UPDATE: Sheena lost her battle on January 3rd, 2017. Since being diagnosed in 2012 she continued her studies at Perkins School of Theology at SMU and was ordained a Reverend in the C.M.E. church. She was hospitalized on December 5th and reported that the cancer came back and spread to her lungs and back. She was an inspiration to so many and will be missed.
Sheena, only 30 years old, is a devoted daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and SMU student at Perkins School of Theology. She enjoys spending time with her friends, reading and seeking a Master of Divinity that will open doors for future Chaplaincy work. She was diagnosed in September 2012 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She now needs a marrow transplant to possibly cure her fatal blood cancer. She has no matching donor on the registry. Sheena is always feeling “Blessed” and sharing her contagious smile.
